Dave Kerner

Dave Berner’s first radio job was in the early 1970s when he played Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue” on the midnight shift at a Pittsburgh Radio station.

Today, after more than forty years in broadcasting, thirty of those years in Chicago, Berner has worked as a program director, news director, and reporter winning numerous local and national journalism awards.

Dave is also an Associate Professor in the Radio Program at Columbia College Chicago and is an award-winning author, (David W. Berner) writing several memoirs and works of fiction. He’s been honored as the Writer-in-Residence at the Jack Kerouac Project in Orlando and at the Ernest Hemingway Foundation in Oak Park, Illinois.

When he’s not reporting the news or writing books, he’s playing guitar, strumming golf, or walking his neighborhood with his wife, Leslie, and dog Sam.
